A Gauss - Seidel Type Solver for Special Convex Programs , with Application to Frictional Contact
نویسنده
چکیده
An iterative method is described that solves the constrained min-imisation of a convex function, when the constraints g j (x 1 ; ::; x n) 0 are function of only a few variables and can be partitioned in some way. A proof of convergence is given which is based on the fact that the function values that are generated decrease. The relation to the non-linear equation solver TanGS VKL93] is shown, together with some new results for TanGS. Finally the solver is applied to the solution of tangential traction in contact mechanics.

Large-Scale Parallel Multibody Dynamics with Frictional Contact on the Graphical Processing Unit
In the context of simulating the frictional contact dynamics of large systems of rigid bodies, this paper reviews a novel method for solving large cone complementarity problems by means of a fixed-point iteration algorithm. The method is an extension of the Gauss-Seidel and Gauss-Jacobi methods with overrelaxation for symmetric convex linear complementarity problems. Convergent under fairly sta...
متن کاملRelaxation Methods for Monotropic Programs
We propose a finitely convergent dual descent method for the problem of minimizing a convex, possibly nondifferentiable, separable cost subject to linear constraints. The method has properties reminiscent of the Gauss-Seidel method in numerical analysis. As special cases we obtain the methods in [1] for network flow programs and the methods in [14] for linear programs. *Work supported by the Na...

Many important phenomena in nature are modeled by partial differential equations (PDEs). Such equations describe flow of air, water, oil and other substances and propagation of electromagnetic and sound waves in different media. Also, PDEs arise in many other application areas ranging from chemistry to economy. In the present paper, the focus is on computational fluid dynamics, CFD. Issues rega...

During the last decade Virtual Reality has benefited of numerous works dedicated to the modeling and the simulation of multibody systems. Even if a large set of methods are already used by the community of computer graphics and virtual reality, some progresses need still to be made to bridge the gap between accurate mechanical simulation and efficient simulations in real-time of realistic syste...
متن کاملDeveloping a Multigrid Solver for Standing Wave Equation
In this paper multigrid technique is adapted for solving standing one-dimensional wave equation with radiation boundary conditions. Solver, consisting of wave cycle and ray cycle, uses Gauss-Seidel and Kaczmarz relaxation sweeps and is aimed to work efficiently for all error components.
